Avomotion is a consulting firm that helps leadership teams drive organizational evolution. During a client engagement, they identified a significant pain point: organizations in Quebec struggle to find relevant government grants because information is fragmented across municipal, regional, provincial, and federal websites—each with different formats and terminology. Eligible organizations were missing funding opportunities simply because they couldn't efficiently navigate the complexity. Avomotion saw the potential for an AI-powered solution but had no software development experience or technical capabilities.
Challenge
Avomotion had spotted a real market need and secured interest from MRC Vaudreuil-Soulanges, but they needed to move from concept to working prototype to close their first software contract. They faced multiple uncertainties: what should the product actually do, how should users interact with it, and could AI reliably handle the cryptic, fragmented grant information without hallucinating? As first-time software builders, they needed someone who could both clarify the undefined idea and execute the technical build—all while keeping them confident in a process entirely new to them.
What We Did
We worked together over two months to bring their vision to tangible reality. Through discussions with both the Avomotion team and representatives from MRC Vaudreuil-Soulanges, we defined what the prototype needed to accomplish and designed the user experience around their actual workflow. We built an AI-powered solution that collects and standardizes grant information from disparate sources, making it searchable and accessible in one place. We added a conversational agent that guides users through describing their projects and identifies relevant grants automatically. Using agile iteration, we gathered feedback early and often, allowing us to course-correct on the user experience while rigorously testing to ensure the AI handled complex, fragmented data without hallucinating false information.
Outcome
Avomotion transformed from consultants with an idea into software providers with a polished, demo-ready product. They gained the confidence to enter the software market and now have a working prototype they can showcase to prospective clients. Beyond the tangible deliverable, they understand how to build software products—from defining requirements through user testing to ensuring AI reliability.
